General description

Capsicum and Myrrh combination is used to treat and other inflammations in the digestive system. The herbs reduce pain and inflammation, are antiseptic, increase blood circulation, are laxative and increase the production of digestive fluids and enzymes.

Chinese herbalists would describe this herbal combination as an earth reducing formula.  It also reduces the water element while enhancing the wood and metal elements.

Capsicum and myrrh combination has traditionally been used to treat ulcers, indigestion, gastritis, , sinus congestion and chronic chills.

This formula is commonly used in conjunction with the vitamin A, chlorophyll, comfrey, the vitamin C family, vitamin E and cabbage.

·        Imbalances: Indicating the use of this formula are commonly noted in the stomach acupressure point located approximately two inches below the sternum.  Imbalances are often noted in the autonomic nerve wreath surrounding both pupils.  Use caution in cases of bloody stool, Crohn's disease and vomiting.  Long term use can increase capillary permeability.  Do not drink before surgery.

∞      Individual Components

—Capsicum fruit— contains resins that increase blood circulation, promote sweating, increase the production of digestive fluids and reduce muscle spasms. It has been used to treat flatulence, colic, ulcers, rheumatic arthritis, cold hands and feet and dropsy.

—Golden seal leaf— contains, , astringent alkaloids that normalize liver and spleen functions by increasing the production of digestive fluids and enzymes, particularly bile. The compounds are antiseptic, constrict peripheral blood vessels, especially in the uterus, are laxative and relieve pain and inflammation in mucosal tissue.  Golden seal leaf is an excellent herbal source of trace minerals including cobalt, iron, magnesium, manganese, silicon and zinc.  It is also an excellent herbal source of vitamin C.  It has been used to treat hepatitis, gastritis, colitis, ulcers, menorrhagia, postpartum hemorrhages, , diabetes, infections, hemorrhoids, eczema, obesity and fevers.

 —Myrrh gum— contains astringent resins that promote the healing of sores.  These compounds shrink inflamed tissue, are antiseptic and reduce pain in mucous membranes.  Myrrh also decreases the thickness while increasing the production of mucosal fluids.  It has been used to treat colds, coughs, bronchitis, asthma, dysmenorrhea, rheumatism and arthritis.

—Vitamin A— Prevents and other eye problems, as well as some disorders, such as acne.  It enhances immunity, may help to heal gastrointestinal ulcers, and is needed for the maintenance and repair of epithelial tissue, of which the skin and mucous membranes are composed.

—Cabbage— is traditionally used by all, as for the use by herbalists white leaves reduce swelling, pulling out pus, coughs, asthma, boils, abscesses, bruises and bronchitis. Red leaves anti-cough syrup, nourishing soup, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-rheumatic, liver decongestant, encourages cell proliferation, tonic for joints, helps to prevent asthma attacks, lung problems, migraines, fluid retention, rheumatism, sciatica, to heal burns, insect bites, coughs, asthma, bronchitis, osteoporosis and digestive remedy.

—Chlorophyll— is a essential part of any blood purification therapy.  Chlorophyll not only cleanses the blood of impurities, but also builds up the blood with important nutrients, promotes regularity, and inhibits cellular damage from radiation.

—Comfrey— Speed healing of wounds and many skin conditions.  Beneficial for bedsores, bites and stings, bruises, inflamed bunions, burns, dermatitis, dry skin, bleeding hemorrhoids, leg ulcers, nosebleeds, psoriasis, scabies, skin rashes, and sunburn.

—Vitamin C— is an antioxidant that is required for at least three hundred metabolic functions in the body, including tissue growth and repair, adrenal gland function, and healthy gums.  It also aids in the production of antistress hormones and interferon, an important protein, and is needed for the metabolism of folic acid, tyrosine, and phenylalanine. Studies have shown that taking vitamin C can reduce symptoms of asthma.  It protects against the harmful effects of pollution, helps to prevent cancer, protects against infection, and enhances immunity.  Vitamin C increases the absorption of iron.  It can combine with toxic substances, such as certain heavy metals, and render them harmless so that they can be eliminated from the body.

—Vitamin E— Acts as an antioxidant in the human body.  As an antioxidant, vitamin E prevents cell damage by inhibiting the oxidation of lipids (fats) and the formation of free radicals.  It protects other fat-soluble vitamins from destruction by oxygen and aids in the utilization of vitamin A.  It protects the low-density lipoproteins (LDL cholesterol) from oxidation as well,.  Oxidized LDL has been implicated in the development of cardiovascular disease.  It is also known to inhibit blood platelet aggregation (clotting) and has other functions related to the activity of the immune system.
